We walked along the riverbed in the fading light and talked about our weakened hearts. About the kind of heartache that steals your personhood and makes you feel like you've lost a part of what makes you whole.

She said, "I want to capture that. I want a photograph that shows what this feels like."

And so we captured the vulnerability. It was dark, it was painful. But it was important.

Then, like a reckoning, we rounded the corner and the sun was there, melting into the Atlantic. We watching the gold and pink waves for a moment, before Taylor was running into the water, laughing and screaming. Healing.
